Liberty For Youth (LFY) is a registered charitable youth organization that has helped hundreds of youth, both locally and provincially, to provide professional character developmental programs for youth (12 – 18 years) in the Hamilton community. LFY educates and inspires them to make positive decisions to avoid or escape a life of poverty, drugs and criminal activities. The 7 programs have assisted 198 youth come out of gangs, prison, drugs and violence over the past 7 years. Liberty For youth has also provided 23 bursaries and 10 post secondary scholarships to first generation College Students. Their commitment to helping youth get back into high school and finish it is shown by an 87% graduation rate.
Frederick Dryden, the founder of Liberty For Youth, has recently been awarded the prestigious Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award this past year 2011 for the work and organization that has been accomplished through Liberty For Youth. “Our mission is to provide alternatives for youth who are influenced by a negative environment”.
In conjunction with MP David Sweet and Terry Anderson in the Hamilton-Dundas region, LFY is holding – for the first time – a fundraising motorcycle event for Liberty For Youth. The event is taking place at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, with about 4-5 hrs route throughout the city and Dundas region, and midway refreshments. Free admission to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is included with registration along with many additional raffle prizes, draws, and BBQ provided by Denninger’s. Join our special guest, John Mason, former commander of the Golden Helmets (O.P.P. Precision Motorcycle Team), to watch a performance riding demonstration as well as offer some instruction on strategic riding.
Come meet some of the youth involved in the organization and hear their stories.
